Revamp Your Kitchen Décor With Smart Lighting

Lighting can create a huge difference in your life. If your kitchen has one dull center light that shadows everything, you would not feel like spending time in the kitchen, and your cooking suffers as a result. Today, there are a wide range of lighting options available and it has become an essential part of interior décor and design. When considering the lighting options for your new kitchen, the plan would include various layers of lighting, including the switches and dimmers. In this post, we have discussed about the various lighting options that can be used to create a difference in your kitchen space:

Task lighting provides direct light to the main work areas, while the under cabinet lighting comprising of the fluorescent, Xenon and halogen pucks are placed directly over the counter surface and this helps in bringing the light exactly where you need it. Other examples of task lighting include the cook top and kitchen office area.

Ambient lighting offers a non task-specific option for lighting your new space. It might either be a center lighting fixture or recessed lights that are uniformly spaced throughout the kitchen space. Other examples of ambient lighting include cabinet-top or soffet lighting, up-lights, etc. With the use of ambient lights, you can add more character to the overall lighting design and create a dramatic feel.

Accent lighting is another interesting lighting option that you can use to highlight special areas in your kitchen. You may use this type of lighting to draw attention to the architectural detailing, art work, or some important features.

Decorative lighting is the most expensive type of lighting that can be used in your kitchen décor and design. The decorative lighting can be designed complementing the layout and scale of your kitchen. The different types of decorative lighting elements include chandeliers, stylish fixtures, pendants, and so on.

After you have decided on the standard lighting layers for your kitchen space, you need to bring them together. In order to configure your lighting controls, you may use the three-way switches to provide standard lighting. Also, make sure that you use the dimmers along with preset lighting levels for all your lighting fixtures, with the exception of fluorescents.
