Making the most of old and modern home design as you revamp your home

If you are at a crossroads on adopting a modern home design because you don’t want to completely do away with the classic look of your home, you can simply incorporate certain modern décor into the already existing classic décor and come out with a rare type of interior décor that is quiet amazing.

In order to make a success of this, you have to start with the color scheme. In this modern time, most of the colors fall within the monochromatic scheme. You can go with white and beige since they are known to easily blend with other hues and as such, there will be little or no issues when it comes to complementing them with the accessories you have in the home.

Another area where you blend classic design with modern home design is in the area of the architectural elements. These are known to add extra beauty to every home. Painting those old brown trims with white paint will add more accent and glamour to your home without them overpowering any other external features of the home. Then when it comes to the flooring of the bathroom and kitchen, there is no need to change all the tiles. The professional contractor handling the project can just remove a few of the classic tiles and replace them with modern tiles to add that modern touch to these areas of your home.

Finally on combining old and modern home design, you don’t have to do away with those cherished but dark-colored and old furniture. You can simply have the furniture lightly scrubbed with sand paper to give it that chic appearance that is associated with modern furniture. As for the old and heavy bed covers and curtains, you can replace them with light weight bed covers and curtains. It makes your home look more spacious and saves you more money since light fabrics are cheaper and easier to wash and maintain.
